Advokatbyrå bötfälls för att ha mejlat känslig information

Guernsey law firm Trinity Chambers has been fined £10,000 for sending sensitive information by email. (Article)

Data Protection Commissioner Emma Martins comments that the fine "reflect the serious nature and impact of failing to look after personal data" and also the "lack of engagement" shown by the firm's data controller.

The reputation damage to Trinity Chambers is no doubt considerably greater than the fine, as a law firm is expected to know better than to handle customer information that way.

Lantero has long pushed for more secure information management. The Lantero whistleblower service protects all information via login and for certain markets it also offers Secure document distribution as a stand-alone service, where sent documents are protected by multi-factor authentication.
